Transformation of rundown community space with purpose built indoor soft-play centre [Kidzania] together with 21 contemporary apartments
NT+A together with NeAr (Architects) obtained planning permission to redevelop 28 Powell Road in Clapton, Hackney
The scheme involved the redevelopment of an existing well used and locally important indoor adventure playground, but a building which underutilised its site. NT+A held detailed discussions with Kidzmania to integrate them within a redevelopment of site, providing an improved local community facility. The scheme delivers 21 self contained flats together with landscape improvements. The key challenges involved the preservation of the locally important community facility, design, adjacent listed building and affordable housing/viability.
