Modern purpose-built 11 storey hostel, delivering significant local temporary housing need
11 storey homeless hostel comprising 292 rooms together with communal facilties.
In a time of extremely high demand for temporary accommodation, which has been rising steadily since 2010, Hackney currently accommodate 3200 households in emergency and temporary accommodation. Procuring accommodation for use by homeless households in the Borough has been difficult for many years, resulting in the Council utilising accommodation in areas such as Croydon and Harrow as well as other London Boroughs to fulfil its duty. Approximately 1200 families are currently placed outside of Hackney, and new requests for accommodation number between 9 and 25 per day!
This 11 storey development delivers 292 much needed rooms, making substantial contribution to alleviating Hackney’s current shortfall in supply. Working alongside the Council’s Housing Need Team, this development has been designed to significantly exceed current standards, and provide substantial improvement in quality, setting new benchmarks for hostels in the borough
