Major refurbishment of Leeds landmark tower
Bridgewater Place is an infamous mixed-use tower located in the heart of Leeds City Centre. Colloquially known as “The Dalek”, it was built in 2010 with a mix of retail, office and residential uses, all surrounding a breath-taking nine-storey internal atrium.
After new owners acquired the commercial elements of the building in 2022, it was determined that the commercial elements of the building required substantial retrofit and refurbishment to bring the nine floors of office up to modern standards.
Offices will be redeveloped to BREEAM Excellent standards, the atrium will become an expanse of high-quality public realm, whilst a new ninth floor roof terrace will be created with a link bridge which travels over the existing atrium.
NTA Planning led all pre-application and application stages, securing a positive decision under delegated powers. Works are already underway.
