Walker Primary School, Enfield
Sympathetic yet modern school development in conservation area setting.
Under the Department for Education Priority School Building Programme 2, this project sought the demolition of an unsightly and failing school building and construction of a new two storey school block.
Working closely with Spatial Initiative and JM Architects, NT+A successfully secured planning permission for this new school development in a contentious conservation area site. Through the implementation of this development, Walker Primary School will see get a brand new school which meets modern day teaching standards while doubling the amount of outdoor play space. After a length pre-application discussions with the school and the London Borough of Enfield, planning permission was granted unanimously at committee in May 2019.
