Redevelopment of former council library, creating new purpose built community hub and 6 bespoke flats.
This application sought to demolish a former library which was left vacant after closure by the London Borough of Brent. The new development sought consent for a 200m2 replacement community facility at ground floor, together with 6 self-contained flats over upper floors.
Following the controversial closure of the former library, NT+A worked closely with local groups and residents to provide a replacement community facility which met the various needs of the local community, as part of a mixed use redevelopment. The planning challenges presented by the development were mitigating the loss of a community facility, mass and bulk, privacy and daylight/sunlight.
