Construction of a new SEND Secondary School in Stockport
NTA Planning was instructed to manage pre-application and planning application stages for the delivery of a new Special Educational Needs (SEN) secondary school for 133 pupils on a disused school site in Cheadle Hulme Stockport. This project was delivered via the Dept for Education’s DFE Offsite Framework. The development required the design team to overcome significant planning challenges, such as delivering a new school on playing field land and designated Community Open Space land. Bolstered by significant community support during pre-application stages, Stockport Council ultimately decided to support the proposals.
NTA led the public consultation, pre-application and planning application stages. The application was ultimately considered at planning committee in July 2022 with planning permission granted in 2023.
