Erection of part-one, part-two storey teaching block as South-West London school.
Demolition of existing school block and construction of part one, part two storey replacement teaching block with new playing courts.
Under the Priority School building Programme 2, NT+A were instructed to seek planning permission for a new school teaching block of almost 2,000sqm at Collis Primary School in Teddington. This was one of the first schools to be awarded funding under the PSBP2. Despite being located on a large site, there were significant constraints that needed consideration such as existing playing fields, land designated as Other Open Land of Townscape Importance (OOLTI) and neighbouring houses surrounding the site.
After two rounds of pre-application advice, a productive public consultation and discussions with the School spanning two years, NT+A secured planning permission from Richmond Council in November 2019, with the committee voting unanimously in favour of granting planning permission.
Utilising modular construction methods, the construction programme will take just 12 months to deliver in total. This will completely transform Collis Primary School delivering a state-of-the-art education facility while also delivering biodiversity, tree, renewable energy and transport enhancements.
This was another successful operation, delivered with Spatial Initiative and AHR.
